TROPOS COAST TO COAST JOURNEY THROUGH COSTA RICA

December 9th - 19th, 2026
TROPOS COAST TO COAST JOURNEY THROUGH COSTA RICA image

An adventure like no other! We climb, ride and raft our way across Costa Rica— every mile earned, every moment shared.

This is a true coast-to-coast traverse of Costa Rica — powered by our own movement. We do lots of kilometers by bike, cross the Continental Divide, descend through valleys and coffee country, raft and kayak the length of the Pacuare River all the way to the Caribbean Sea. Throughout these days, we'll share the effort and momentum — pushing through climbs together, celebrating the downhills, and discovering just how much our bodies are capable of when we keep moving as a team.

Itinerary Overview

Our biggest test of the trip awaits - a steady, sustained climb that earns its place. Before breakfast, we’re on our bikes tackling 14 kilometers uphill toward the Continental Divide, reaching 2,330 meters, the highest point of our journey.

And then, we get the payoff. What follows is pure biking joy: long stretches of downhill, dirt roads, and single-track that let you enjoy the rhythm.

The afternoon finishes in the Orosi Valley, where green forests cover most of the land. We spend the night in the quiet town of Orosi — legs tired, spirits high, and stories already forming.

Day 7 - Day at Leisure

Itinerary Overview

We slow things down here, settling into this special spot along the banks of the Pacuare River. The day is easy and open — hiking gentle hills, wandering through primary forest, swimming in the river, and discovering waterfalls and clear swimming holes where the water is so pure you can drink it most of the year.

This stretch of rainforest remains beautifully untouched, with only minimal footprint to host a small number of guests. El Nido del Tigre — named for the giant ginger plants that blanket the area — feels private and unhurried. It’s the kind of place where nature is close, the air feels different, and you fall asleep deeply, still hearing the river nearby.

Day 9 - Biking & Kayaking to the Caribbean Sea

Itinerary Overview

Back to our pedals for a quick ride through banana plantations to Freeman. In this town our kayaks will be ready for us to start our way down the Pacuare River. We leave the rapids behind as we paddle toward the Caribbean lowlands, rainforest gradually giving way to open farmland. It’s a steady, reflective finish to the traverse.

We complete the last mile together, reaching the mouth of the Pacuare where it meets the Caribbean Sea. A toast at the water's edge marks the end of the journey — well earned.

After some time on the beach, a motorboat transfers us to Moín, where we continue by vehicle toward the coast.
